Getting used to my new abode!
It was so nice this morning to have a lay in, and leave 5 minutes before I was due in for work :D Got my routine for first thing sorted: come in, get PIT alarm and keys and sign the book; put stuff in the locker; grab a coffee; head into the MDT hand over meeting; check the board for activities; discuss diary with J and do emails/notes. By this time it is about 10am, and I can begin prep for the first group. Today the morning group was the recovery group, this is a closed group (meaning it is not open to new members to ensure continuity, and therefore I couldn't attend). This group is about what 'recovery' means to each patient and how this can be facilitated and achieved. They use the WRAP (wellness recovery action plan) which links with the recovery star when they move to outpatients. I took this time to read through trust policies etc and do some research on both the WRAP and recovery star. I like the WRAP, and have a copy of the trust made booklet, and it could be used/applied by anyone, which is nice.
I think we have decided on my case study, as the patient arrived the same day as I did, and should have a relatively short stay on the ward before moving on,and therefore I can actively have a part in his rehabilitation. So tomorrow I am going to observe a cooking assessment with him and write up the notes.
I was on another ward in the afternoon as we received a referral for traffic safety assessment. Whilst there and talking to the patient about the assessment another patient came up and screamed at me and kicked me, although it really made me jump at the time, I wasn't that fazed due to having worked with a similar client group previously. I can laugh about it now, but I genuinely think I jumped about 2 foot up in the air, much to the amusement of J.
Did another shop at Asda, it gets expensive moving around as each time you leave behind the basic essentials like salt, oil, vinegar, stock cubes, sauces, shampoo, soap, cleaning products etc and then have to buy them again whenever you are somewhere for a short while. Changed the trousers I bought yesterday as the 8 was too small, got a 10, and they're still too small. I refuse to accept I am a 12, and therefore have to accept that I ate like a pig over Christmas, and whilst at home, and gained weight that I now have to lose! Admittedly, most of my clothes are feeling a tad tight, so I really must learn to exercise some restraint when it comes to food, and stop being so lazy and do a bit more exercise.
Going to pack my bag to take home in a bit, I mustn’t bring too much unnecessary stuff and then I can travel with just 1 suitcase...which is far easier than having 4+ bags! But I need to get things like a duvet, bedding, more clothes and shoes. I can't believe I would have complete my first full week tomorrow!
xx
